This is a busy week – Turkey Thursday, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday! Sit back and relax on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Instead, save your sneakers and gas to shop locally on Saturday. Not only will you find unique, local items and friendly, helpful store associates, but you’ll also be helping your community. Shopping locally can have a BIG impact:
- Each dollar spent in the community returns three times more money to the local economy than one spent a at chain store.
- Local businesses employ local people—from staff to contractors, vendors, consultants and more. And small businesses tend to carry locally made goods, creating a unique shopping experience.
- Local businesses support local causes—and donate more per sales dollar to community nonprofits and sponsor more events and school athletics. Small, local businesses also volunteer at community events and serve on local advisory boards more than big businesses.
