Thanksgiving Holiday – Office Closed

Thanksgiving is coming up, and there is nothing better than spending quality time with your family and friends. Thanksgiving is about gratitude, reflection and community.
Thanksgiving has evolved into one of the most celebrated holidays in the United States, and is deeply rooted in both American history, and culture.

The first Thanksgiving that was ever celebrated in America was in1612. However, Thanksgiving, was not considered a national holiday until 1863. During the Civil War, and Abraham Lincoln’s presidency, Lincoln hoped that the holiday would unify a fractured nation. Lincoln proclaimed the last Thursday in November as the holiday we all know and celebrate. Congress did not officially recognize the holiday until 1941.

Today we can carry on the traditions of remembrance, celebration and thanksgiving.

Here are a few ways you can be thankful:

Reflection and gratitude: Reflect on all the ways you are thankful. This can look like creating a “gratitude” list, writing a letter of thanks and giving it to someone, or taking time to enjoy a meal with the people who are closest to you.

Giving back: Giving back can come in many different shapes and forms. You could volunteer at a local food pantry, school, animal shelter or soup kitchen – or contribute needed items or make a monetary donation. Check out the Bloomer Chamber of Commerce to see what local events are happening and offer your support.

Activities with loved ones: Since many people have the day off for the holiday, it is a perfect time to carve out quality time with your loved ones. This could be a movie date or having coffee with someone special. There are always reasons to celebrate, and Thanksgiving makes it all the more worth it!

Please note that Bloomer Broadband will be closed on Thursday and Friday November 28-29, in observation of Thanksgiving. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
